Food as Medicine: Sri Lankan Avocado & Honey Cream

A simple nourishing dessert rooted in tradition.

Growing up in Sri Lanka, avocados were often enjoyed not as a savory food, but as a naturally sweet and creamy dessert mixed with honey. This simple recipe reminds us that some of the most nourishing foods are also the most beautiful in their simplicity. Avocados are rich in healthy monounsaturated fats, fiber, potassium, magnesium, and antioxidants that help support heart health, hormone production, brain function, blood sugar balance, and reduction of inflammation. When paired with raw honey, this dessert becomes a wholesome source of natural energy and nourishment.

  • 2–4 tablespoons whole milk or coconut milk

  • Mash with a fork for a rustic texture or blend until smooth and creamy.

  • Taste and adjust sweetness if desired.

  • Chill for 15–20 minutes before serving.
