Sept 12 - The Day of the Bible in Pennsylvania

The Pennsylvania State Senate has officially recognized September 12th as “The Day of the Bible” in Pennsylvania, beginning in 2025. Senate Resolution 131, passed in June 2025 by a narrow 26–24 vote, honors the enduring historical and cultural influence of the Bible in the Commonwealth.

Why September 12th?

The date was chosen to commemorate a significant moment in American history. On

September 12, 1782, while meeting in Philadelphia, the U.S. Congress authorized the printing of the Aitken Bible, the first complete English-language Bible printed in America, also known as “The Bible of the Revolution.”

This milestone reflected the profound role of spiritual values in shaping the early republic and reaffirmed the connection between faith and freedom at the nation’s founding.

The resolution was proposed by Senator Doug Mastriano and Representative Stephanie

Borowicz, who together emphasized the Bible’s vital role in shaping American culture, morality, and civic life. Supporters of the measure noted that this recognition not only honors Pennsylvania’s historical legacy but also serves as a reminder of the guiding principles that continue to influence our society today.

On September 12, 2025, Drs. Greg and Chaminie Wheeler, along with CCC Health staff member Maria Ault and her husband, were honored to be invited to attend the inaugural commemoration at Congress Hall in Philadelphia.

This location added to the profound significance of the event: participants were able to sit in the very same seats once occupied by the Founding Fathers. Experiencing this historic setting firsthand served as a moving reminder that the principles of faith and liberty have always been deeply intertwined in America’s story and that protecting both remains essential for generations to come.
